hello there and welcome! i'm danica.
i'm a blogger and jewelry designer. i sell my line, the nerdy penguin, on etsy, storeenvy, and in the velvet pearl, a brick and mortar store located in salisbury, md.
i love to design simple fashion jewelry with hints of color, for everyday wear and weddings. i find wedding jewelry especially rewarding. i always feel honored when brides ask me to create jewelry for their bridal parties and even for themselves, to wear on their special day!
the nerdy penguin blog started as a companion blog to my jewelry line, but has become much, much more in the year or so it's been up and running! it has become my creative online outlet for everything i love in addition to my jewelry line - all things handmade, my creative projects, travel, fashion & style, photography, music, recipes, and comedy. of course, i like to talk about the occasional nerdy thing!
i have endless gratitude for everyone who has supported me thus far. friends, followers, customers, everyone! seeing feedback and support from people around the world, on my blog and for my jewelry, really gives me something to smile about every day. you all rock, and i mean that! :)

i love my name, which means "morning star" in slavic.
i speak french at an intermediate level. someday i hope to be fluent.
i love being close to animals. aquariums and zoos are some of my favorite places, as long as the animals are treated well.
late spring and summer are my favorite times of the year. my allergies have subsided but the flowers are all still in bloom. and the local markets all have fruit!
i've lived in 3 states (favorite = maryland) and visited 30 (favorite = new england).
i've visited 4 foreign countries, including the one i was born in, and not including airport stops. it's my life goal to visit at least 20.
